Friday Fun Pics

Happy Friday All!  I thought Fridays would be a fun day to post random, fun pics of Kate taken throughout the week.  Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

The infamous rock-eating incident.

Seeing if there is anything fun to play with.

Hello!

Playing under the table is fun!

A new ear infection

So, while I was waxing philosophical yesterday about whether I should let Kate play in the dirt, she was crawling around with an ear infection. Who knows how long she's had it. She's usually happy even when she's sick, so you just never know. Below is a picture of my mom (Dottie) holding Kate at Christmas. I know a little of Dottie's TLC would make Kate feel all better :)

Good News! A Little Dirt Is Good for You

Kate likes to put anything and everything in her mouth. This weekend we were playing outside and she was chewing on rocks. I have a picture of this, but decided not to put it up so I wouldn't be judged as a negligent parent :)

I usually scan the headlines of The New York Times when I get to work and this morning I came across an interesting article - http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/27/health/27brod.html?_r=1&ref=health. I thought I'd share a few interesting quotes with you. I am not sure I completely buy this argument, but it makes me feel better about letting Kate play outside.
“What a child is doing when he puts things in his mouth is allowing his immune response to explore his environment,” Mary Ruebush, a microbiology and immunology instructor, wrote in her new book, “Why Dirt Is Good” (Kaplan). “Not only does this allow for ‘practice’ of immune responses, which will be necessary for protection, but it also plays a critical role in teaching the immature immune response what is best ignored.”
“Children should be allowed to go barefoot in the dirt, play in the dirt, and not have to wash their hands when they come in to eat,” he said. He and Dr. Elliott pointed out that children who grow up on farms and are frequently exposed to worms and other organisms from farm animals are much less likely to develop allergies and autoimmune diseases. Also helpful, he said, is to “let kids have two dogs and a cat,” which will expose them to intestinal worms that can promote a healthy immune system.
What do you think about this?

A great nap makes everything better

Sunday afternoon naps are essential in the Lundy household. When any one of us misses his/her Sunday nap, it's not a good scene. Kate was having a hard time getting to sleep this afternoon, so we put her in bed with us. She took a great nap as evidenced by her post-nap hair below. Hope everyone has a great week!

Weekend Update

Hi Everyone! Just a laid-back weekend here. Fred had a disaster-relief training conference on Saturday, so Kate and I had a play date with Aunt Natalie and Cousin Wyatt. Fred is Wyatt's godfather, or parrain which is the word for godfather in French and in Southern Louisiana. Wyatt is 4-months old. We had a great visit with them.

Wow Mom, Thanks for leaving this crystal family heirloom out for me to play with!

For all of you who are wondering why I don't have red hair, now you know. Wyatt took all the red-hair genes :)

Thanks for coming over Wyatt!

Brrrrrr!!

It's been so cold in Baton Rouge lately. I keep seeing the weather people say it's going to get warmer and then it just seems to get colder. It seems like it is really cold everywhere this winter. Hope you are all keeping warm!

This is my Dominica shirt from Mrs. Patti - I bet it's warm there :)

Just doing a little light reading.

My cousin Blaise lent me this walker. It's a little scary learning to walk.

Just in case you think I am always happy, my mom asked me to pose for this picture. Doesn't it look realistic?

Lover of comments

I am already loving this new format, because I love to read your comments! It is so nice to know people are reading. I look forward to hearing from you :)

Today was pajama day at Kate's school, so the cow pajamas made another appearance. It's been really cold here in Baton Rouge, so hopefully she's staying warm.

Lately, I've noticed Kate just checking everything out. You can almost see her wondering how things work. She is a very curious little girl. This picture was taken at Christmas, but this is the face I am talking about.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

10 Months!

Welcome to the new Lundy blog! I've heard from several friends that these sites are easier to upload and allow more space for pictures. Also, now you can leave comments for us so we'll know people are reading :)

Our little lovebug is 10 months old. We just can't believe it. My friend Nicole had her first child last week and it was surreal visiting her. I can so clearly remember Kate being that small. Tonight, we watched her try to take a step on her own. Watch out world!

New Year, New Blog

Welcome to our new blog for the new year. I am hoping this blog will allow me to upload pictures more easily and make edits. Kate is doing well. She's had a little cold this week, but nothing major. She is really trying to stand on her own and walk. She seems so eager to check everything out.

Uncle Earl always remembers Alli at Christmas. She loves her new toy. Kate loves it too.

Strangers passing in the night.

We celebrated with the rest of Gator Nation last Thursday night as the Gators won the National Championship. What a great game! Kate was all decked out on Friday in her Gator gear for school.Ready for a walk and then school - Go Gators! National Champs!

Playing outside.

Friday night was Parents' Night Out at church and all the kids were supposed to wear their pajamas. Kate's cow pajamas were a hit!
