Friday Fun Pics - The Black and Blue Edition

On the days I am home with Kate, we've been going up to the LSU lakes to walk.  We go pretty early, so on Wednesday I decided to pack a picnic breakfast for us to eat after we walked.  It was a beautiful mother-daughter moment (while it lasted).  I got us all set up at the picnic table and Kate was enjoying her breakfast.  She tried to get down off the bench and fell face-first into the pavement.  As you can see, she sustained a pretty brutal bump on her head.  

Nothing a little antiseptic, a juice cup and a vanilla wafer won't make better.

Tomorrow Fred and I celebrate 9 years of marriage! It has flown by. I love you sweetheart! It's you and only you for always.

Memorial Day Weekend

Okay, so we've been looking for some time to buy Kate some toddler toys on Craigslist.  Who wants to pay full price for this stuff that's just going to get beat up in the back yard?  We hit the jackpot this week and found several things.  

One is this water table.  It's actually a sand and water table, but Kate loves water so I just filled the whole thing up with water. 

She loved it.  She played for hours.  

She took a quick break to give Alli some love.

We also found this little table on Craigslist.  Right now she seems most interested in using it to climb up to the other furniture.

Weekend Update

Fred and I had a quick getaway to New Orleans Friday night.  Our friends Ben and Lindsey came and stayed with Kate.  We celebrated our anniversary a few weeks early - 9 years on May 27!  We had so much fun, but were so excited to see Kate when we got back.  We played outside a lot today.

Gustav updates

We had some damage to our house during Hurricane Gustav last fall.  We've been working with a great contractor and getting some needed updates/repairs done.  Fred's done a great job to spearhead all of this while finishing up his semester in school.  

We had a tree coming down on our back patio area.  We had the covering torn out and rebuilt.  It now covers a larger area (=more shade in the summer).  We also had our deck torn out.  We are having new concrete laid in the next couple of weeks.  Right now, it's just a pile of dirt which Kate loves.  

We also lost a fence (between our house and our neighbors) to Gustav.  We had a new fence built this week. 

Finally, our insurance company deemed us in need of a new roof.  This was a blessing, because we really needed a new roof anyway.  We're having the exterior siding and back area painted next week.  It's coming along!

14 Months

Hi.  My name is Kate.  I decided that since I will be fourteen months old tomorrow, I need to start writing some of my own blog posts.  You know, so I make sure you get to hear my point of view.  So, here it goes.  

I like to have some juice when I wake up from a nap.  Who doesn't?  

Lately, mom's been putting me in this bathing suit a lot.  I don't mind.  I get to play in the water and the dirt.  Two of my favorite things.  

Alli's still my best friend.  I think I am growing on her a little bit too.  

I have three molars coming in at the same time.  So I am not always in a good mood.  Mom likes to put up pictures of me laughing and smiling, but sometimes I'm just in a bad mood.  You can relate, right?

Rubba Dub Dub

I'm participating in the 365 project (see right) as part of the Mommytography class I took last weekend.  Basically, the idea is to get you to use your camera more and apply the concepts you learn in the class.  This week our assignment is to take pictures of hands.  The first picture was for the assignment, the rest just capture bath time fun.

Mommytography Pics

So, I went to my Mommytography class today and it was AWESOME.  If you are anywhere in the Greater Baton Rouge area, I would encourage you to sign up for one of Tracy's classes.  She is so knowledgeable.  I think it will take me years to apply everything she taught us, but I played around with some of the concepts when I got home this afternoon.  Here are some of the shots I got.

Sorry I don't have any new pictures to post today. I am going to a Mommytography class tomorrow to learn how to take better pictures with our camera. I'll practice what I learn this weekend and, hopefully, have some new pics next week!
