Weekend in pictures

Last Sunday was luau day at church for the kids.  Kate wore her grass skirt all morning.  Still had it on when I picked her up.

Up to no good :)

Sliding fun

"Alli, you are so funny."

When it gets quiet in the back of the house, it's time to worry.

Mom, I don't need a spoon for this yogurt.  I have a much better plan.

Into Everything

At 16 months, Kate is into everything.  It's even more fun when she has "partners in crime."  Our friends came over Friday night and they have three children.  It got quiet in the living room and we found Kate, Corbin and Mallie all in Alli's crate.  Titan was trying to join them.

Kate loves to help with anything we are doing.  Putting away groceries, Kate and Alli together are a big help ;)

Trip to New Orleans Aquarium

Saturday morning, we loaded up and took Kate for her first trip to New Orleans.  We had ambitious plans when we left to do the aquarium, Cafe Du Monde, and lunch in the quarter. We ended up just doing the aquarium.  It was so, so crowded.  I am not sure why were surprised that on a hot summer day in New Orleans, a large, air conditioned attraction would be so crowded.   Oh well, we had fun.  We'll definitely go back on a less crowded day.

Kate loved pointing at all the fish.

So, this is funny.  Before Kate came along, I remember thinking when I would see food courts in places like the aquarium, "Who would eat there? With all the great food in New Orleans, why would you eat in the aquarium food court?"  Now I know.  Everyone eating there also had a stroller and was using a high chair.  You do it because it's easy.

Kate checking out more fish.

Happiest moment of the trip - holding her new stuffed otter in the gift shop on the way out.  She is her mother's child :)

Catching up on summer

I haven't been a very good blogger lately.  I am teaching two summer school classes every day, so things are pretty busy around here.  But here is some of what we've been up to:

Kate found one of my purses and was trying to figure out what to make of it.

Getting ready for a Fourth of July gathering at our friends' house.  My mom bought Kate this stuffed dog when we were in Florida that looks a lot like Alli and she loves it.  She sleeps with it and carries it all over the place.

Trying to get Kate to sit still and take a picture with Ella (left) and Emma (right).  Not happening.

Kate likes to climb up in her stroller when we're not paying attention.

She will never keep hats on, but for some reason the other day she kept her hoodie on for a bit.

Enjoying a day off

This was taken toward the end of an afternoon playing in the yard.  After playing in the sprinkler, enjoying a chocolate popsicle and losing one of her shoes on about the millionth time going down the slide.

Happy Fourth of July!

I don't know if it's as hot where you are as it is here, but it is HOT in Baton Rouge. We've been having record-breaking temps every day. We finally got our back patio area done. Concrete is poured, ceiling fans are up. Big thanks to Fred for getting all of this done. We've been blessed to be able to do this project. It gives us a lot more living area. Fred's been in New Orleans most of the week taking a class. As of this afternoon, he's done with school until August. Yay! We plan to enjoy the holiday weekend just relaxing and visiting with some friends. I want to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to be an American and to enjoy the freedoms of our great nation. Special thanks to our friends who serve (and have served) this country. We appreciate all you (and your families) do!
